Tech giant Microsoft is said to be working on three new Surface devices codenamed Carmel, Libra and Andromeda. The device codenamed Carmel is said to be the next-generation Surface Pro which is expected to come by mid 2019. It is also expected that the next version will be heavily redesigned.
According to a report by ZDNet, the next generation Surface pro is expected to bring some major design changes as compared to its predecessor. The report doesn’t specifically say what are the design changes but it could mean that the device will be thinner and lighter in comparison to its predecessor. The report however, suggests that in order to surprise it customers the company might completely redesign the Microsoft Surface Pro.
As per the report, the next generation Surface Pro could be powered by 8th generation Intel core processors and might come with USB Type C port.
Along with this, the company is also said to be working on a Surface-branded headset, which might look like Jabra’s Evolve series.
Another report by Thurrot.com highlights that Microsoft will also launch the Surface tablet at $400 in order to compete with Google Chromebooks and Apple’s new iPad models. It is expected that the company might launch the device later this year. The codename for the device is Libra. Another leaked document highlights that the company is working on a dual display device which is codenamed as Andromeda and is expected to come later this year.
Earlier this year, Microsoft launched the fifth generation Surface Pro 2-in-1 in India. The device comes with a starting price tag of Rs 64,999 and is available online on Microsoft Store, Amazon, Flipkart and offline on Croma, Vijay Sales and other authorised stores in the country. The Surface Pro 2-in-1 is the successor to the Surface Pro 4 which the company launched in 2016.
