Apple has just released its iOS 11.4 software with some new features and enhancements, among which the most highlighted is the support for Airplay 2. This means users can now play audio on multiple speakers at once using Apple TV and HomePod. Also included are Messages backup on iCloud for easy syncing between Apple devices, ClassKit support and more. You can also enjoy these features if you have the eligible device. So here is the entire list of the iOS devices that are getting iOS 11.4.
In terms of iPhones, the list is pretty long. Apple is bringing iOS 11.4 support to smartphones as old as iPhone 5s, which was launched five years ago in 2013. The list includes iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the last year’s flagship, iPhone X.
As for the big screen iOS devices, the iPad, the list is pretty short. It includes Apple iPad Air, Air 2, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro (Gen. 1 and Gen. 2).
Other than the aforementioned features, iOS 11.4 brings several improvements and fixes regarding Messages, data syncing in Health, incorrect location on the Home Screen, CarPlay audio and more. Since Apple is holding its WWDC 2018 conference next week, iOS 11.4 is said to be the last major upgrade before the Cupertino-based tech firm introduces iOS 12. The OS version is likely to see a wider roll out sometime in October this year and is likely to come out of the box in the upcoming iPhone models.
Some of the features expected to arrive in iOS 12 include the arrival of ‘Slide to unlock’ feature, better Shazam integration in Siri, enhancements in Parental Control and new emojis. Whatever may be the case, we will get to know about it within next few days.
