Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has launched the Red Edition of its flagship smartphone OnePlus 6 in India. The company has announced that the smartphone will go on sale starting July 16 at Rs 39,999. Customers will be able to purchase the device from Amazon India website and official OnePlus website.
Pete Lau, CEO and Founder, OnePlus, said, “We believe power and attitude can be both elegant and humble, and we have strived to achieve this with the OnePlus 6 Red Edition. We worked to avoid an overly bright red color while still capturing a sense of self-confidence and positivity. Achieving the amber-like effect took several months to refine and perfect.”
The company also highlighted that in order to capture the the perfect red, OnePlus utilized a never-done-before technique utilizing optical coating, evaporative film, and six panels of glass. An added anti-reflective layer was used to allow more light to reach the bottom layers of glass before being reflected off the device, creating a sense of depth. A translucent orange layer intermixes with the red base layer to achieve a radiant glossy red, unique to OnePlus.
Apart from the colour all the other specifications of the smartphone remains the same.
The OnePlus 6 comes with a 6.28-inch full HD+ Optic AMOLED screen with 19:9 aspect ratio. The display comes with a iPhone X like notch which can be enabled and disabled as required by the user.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The company has also revealed that the handset will receive Android P update as well. As for the camera, the OnePlus 6 comes with dual rear cameras including 16MP (Sony IMX519) +20MP (Sony IM376K sensor). There is also a 16MP front camera with Sony IMX371 sensor and unique portrait mode features.
To recall, the OnePlus comes in two variants 6GB RAM and 64GB storage priced at Rs 34,999, and 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage priced at Rs 39,999.
